Acclaimed Yorkshire Band Release First Album
Waterland, the highly acclaimed acoustic band based around Otley, West Yorkshire, have released their first album under the title “Butterfly In Reverse”.
Fuelled by the songs of singer/guitarist Jon Palmer (former Grolsch UK Songwriter of the Year and a published songwriter with Sony) the album sits comfortably within the acoustic revival movement currently sweeping the country. Part singer/songwriter, part rock and roll, and part contemporary folk, the album of 12 songs is set to propel the band on to bigger and better things.
The past year has seen Waterland work hard and establish itself on the local and regional acoustic/folk circuit. The band was the surprise hit at a number of festivals in 2007. A series of live radio performances has also helped to spread the word to a wider audience.
When asked about the album's title track Jon said “It's broadly about someone with the world at his feet who makes a couple of mistakes and then has to watch the whole thing come crashing down. A bit like a Shakespearean tragedy in 3 minutes!”
The remaining songs cover a range of topics from road movies and gangland love affairs, through to incendiary relationships and self sacrifice, all set to memorable melodies and singalong at the top of your voice choruses.
Waterland are currently touring and promoting the album with a series of performances and radio appearances (details).
